I met Rosie on 3rd St. in June of 1990
and she was part of a litter of nursing puppies. Her mother, a white pitt,
had been abandoned on a roof in the East Village and when the super gave
her to a guy in her building she soon discovered that Lucy, Rosie's abandoned
Mom, was pregnant. So the Super took Lucy back and when the pups were
delivered, they were exhibited and sold in front of the super's storefront
on my block. I came along one day around 5-it was daylight saving's so
I had just stumbled into an extra hour and was oohing and ahhing about
life and there was Rose. She caught my eye, I said what about her and
the woman told me someone was coming back with $50 and for that they would
take Rosie and cut her ears and her tail off and put her out to fight.
They would like hell and that was of course almost 13 years ago and we've
been together ever since. |
