Rosie and I were shot by New York Magazine
in the spring of 1998 for a spread called real people and their dogs.
There was a third person besides Rosie and myself in the picture.
New York Magazine had us (myself and the person and Rosie) come in and
pick new spring fashions and pose and they took great pictures and picked
this one for their spread and at the last minute they dumped us. We were
the only queers in the spread (well, there were gay looking people, but
they were alone, as gay people should be depicted in the media) so it
seemed to us that was the reason for the deletion and not the fashion
look of any of us.
Actually New York Magazine contacted me again this past spring. They were
doing a gay issue and wanted to know what my gay favorite places in New
York were. I mentioned the dog run where they found me the last time and
I mentioned some dykes I always see there with their dogs and they said
great, great, but again they didn't use me or my cultural notions.
