This is a painting by Doug Padgett, one of my favorite artists, who always paints and draws from a trippy perspective. Each new painting of his stuns me-the interior of a cave with stalagmites etc., or else sworls of color in a do-nutty close- up of the sea that guarantees you'll see it this way from now on. . . Doug is totally amazing.

So this is just a Martian landscape maybe riffing on some actual government photos. I tumble in excitement every time I view it.
